Naturally, many of the nuts&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/future-perfect\/2019\/4\/16\/18251646\/modern-monetary-theory-new-moment-explained\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in Washington<\/a>&nbsp;are starting to get behind this unhinged notion. That includes members of Congress such as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-ommt-modern-monetary-theory-how-pay-for-policies-2019-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.)<\/a>&nbsp;and democratic presidential candidate&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/future-perfect\/2019\/4\/16\/18251646\/modern-monetary-theory-new-moment-explained\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An Economic Absurdity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sure,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/modern-monetary-theory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a cluster of economists<\/a>&nbsp;in and around Wall Street and Washington, D.C. are pushing this very dangerous set of policies that are dressed up in academic terminology such as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/modern-monetary-theory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cneo-Keynesianism\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;so that they sound almost sane. But MMT is as far from economic sanity as one can get. But let\u2019s face it, Wall Street loves any idea that puts money into the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In essence, the main idea behind MMT is that any&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-government-spending\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">government spending<\/a>&nbsp;can be paid for but with printed money. An in depth look into history\u2014or even a brief one\u2014shows that the absurd idea of printing unlimited amounts of money leads a nation into hyperinflation and economic ruin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>No Good Examples<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A recent example would be Zimbabwe. Unjust land seizures leading to food shortages, price controls, and corruption led to massive deficit spending fueled by printing press money. A&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-inflation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">inflation<\/a>&nbsp;rate of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.economicshelp.org\/blog\/390\/inflation\/hyper-inflation-in-zimbabwe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>98 percent every day<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;destroyed the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-economy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">economy<\/a>&nbsp;and the government\u2019s credibility in running it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026click on the above link to read the rest of the article\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Will Modern Monetary Theory Blow Up the Dollar?
