{"id":50002,"date":"2019-12-07T14:41:13","date_gmt":"2019-12-07T19:41:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=50002"},"modified":"2019-12-07T14:41:17","modified_gmt":"2019-12-07T19:41:17","slug":"suppressing-dissent-guarantees-disorder-and-collapse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=50002","title":{"rendered":"Suppressing Dissent Guarantees Disorder and Collapse"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"http:\/\/charleshughsmith.blogspot.com\/2019\/12\/suppressing-dissent-guarantees-disorder.html\">Suppressing Dissent Guarantees Disorder and Collapse<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The frantic efforts of am exploitive elite to eliminate dissent only accelerates the regime&#8217;s path to collapse.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Regimes that are losing public support always make the same mistake:<\/strong>\u00a0rather than fix the source of the loss of public trust&#8211;the few enriching themselves at the expense of the many&#8211; the regime reckons\u00a0<strong>the problem is dissent:<\/strong>\u00a0if we suppress all dissent, then everyone will accept their diminishing lot in life and the elites can continue on their merry way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What the regimes don&#8217;t understand is dissent is the immune system of society:<\/strong>\u00a0suppressing dissent doesn&#8217;t just get rid of pesky political protesters and conspiracy theorists; it also gets rid of the innovations and solutions society needs to adapt to changing conditions.
