Our politicians should listen.&nbsp;CANADIAN PRESS\/Dave Chidley.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now that we can open the windows again and clear the air of political flatulence, perhaps we can acknowledge the realities that remain like ghosts in our troubled house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once again we have been reminded that Canada\u2019s&nbsp;political parties behave like organizations \u201cpublicly and officially designed for the purpose of killing in all souls the sense of truth and of justice,\u201d as Simone Weil characterized parties seven decades ago.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What they have left us are political divisions that have now painted the face of Canada red or blue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And just as in the excited United States, the conservative blue largely spreads across oil-producing regions suffering from low prices, while the red occupies oil-importing provinces. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are now living the storm before the storm and don\u2019t even know it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The energy divisions in both countries tell a story of appalling leadership, the strength of propaganda and political inertia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One-third of the blue nation not only&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/4123194\/climate-change-survey\/\">doesn\u2019t believe<\/a>&nbsp;that climate change is an emergency, but remains in denial about the increasing volatility of oil and gas prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Low prices and overproduction of high cost bitumen and fracked oil and gas have eroded the economics of the fossil fuel industry, throwing some people in Alberta and Saskatchewan into cauldrons of resentment, stoked by the propaganda manufactured by \u201cwildcat Christians\u201d and the oil industry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u2026click on the above link to read the rest of the article\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Politicians Offered a Choice between Climate Fantasies as Our Future Grows Bleaker Greta Thunberg is right \u2014 across Canada we are acting like \u2018spoiled irresponsible children.\u2019 Now that we can open the windows again and clear the air of political flatulence, perhaps we can acknowledge the realities that remain like ghosts in our troubled house.
