{"id":49041,"date":"2019-10-20T06:28:12","date_gmt":"2019-10-20T11:28:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=49041"},"modified":"2019-10-20T06:28:16","modified_gmt":"2019-10-20T11:28:16","slug":"55-ways-to-starve-the-beast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=49041","title":{"rendered":"55 Ways to Starve the Beast"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theorganicprepper.com\/50-ways-to-starve-the-beast\/\">55 Ways to Starve the Beast <\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A term coined in 1985 by an unnamed staffer of the Reagan administration was \u201cStarve the Beast\u201d. &nbsp;This referred to a fiscally conservative political strategy to cut government spending by paying less in taxes. &nbsp;So, in the original sense, \u201cthe Beast\u201d was the government, and people were to starve said beast by spending less and using loopholes to pay less in taxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Now the Beast is a whole lot bigger.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These days the Beast has a lot more tentacles than just the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The system now consists of the government and all aspects of corporatism. &nbsp;Big Agri, Big Pharma, Big Tech, Big Food, Big Banking, and Big Oil, to name a few. &nbsp;It seems that now it\u2019s the Beast that\u2019s doing the starving, as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/timworstall\/2013\/03\/31\/of-course-walmart-destroys-retail-jobs-thats-the-darn-point-of-it-all\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">small businesses close because they can\u2019t compete with WalMart<\/a>, bigger chains are&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheatsheet.com\/money-career\/stores-destroyed-by-amazon.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">run out of existence by Amazon<\/a>, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2019\/mar\/09\/american-food-giants-swallow-the-family-farms-iowa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">family farm is on its way out<\/a>&nbsp;because it can\u2019t compete with the huge, subsidized mega-farms, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theorganicprepper.com\/the-us-healthcare-system-is-hemorrhaging-it-is-bleeding-close-to-1-trillion-a-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">people are going bankrupt<\/a>&nbsp;because they can\u2019t pay the outrageous medical bills\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These mega-corporations aren\u2019t there to make our lives better or easier. They\u2019re there to make as much money as possible and they\u2019ll run you over if you get in their way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(<em>Please note that there are Amazon links in this article to show you the books I recommend.
