{"id":48376,"date":"2019-09-10T08:01:25","date_gmt":"2019-09-10T13:01:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=48376"},"modified":"2019-09-10T08:01:27","modified_gmt":"2019-09-10T13:01:27","slug":"temperatures-in-the-pacific-ocean-have-shot-up-to-dangerous-levels-and-scientists-are-blaming-a-strange-anomaly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=48376","title":{"rendered":"Temperatures In The Pacific Ocean Have Shot Up To Dangerous Levels, And Scientists Are Blaming A \u201cStrange Anomaly\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/archives\/temperatures-in-the-pacific-ocean-have-shot-up-to-very-dangerous-levels-and-scientists-are-blaming-a-strange-anomaly\">Temperatures In The Pacific Ocean Have Shot Up To Dangerous Levels, And Scientists Are Blaming A \u201cStrange Anomaly\u201d<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is being called \u201cthe Pacific marine heatwave of 2019\u201d, and officials are warning that it could have very frightening implications if it does not dissipate soon.\u00a0 Right now, there is a vast expanse of water stretching from northern Alaska all the way to southern California where the water temperatures have rapidly risen to very dangerous levels.\u00a0 In fact, in some spots the water temperature is already \u201cas much as 6 degrees Fahrenheit above normal\u201d, and there is a tremendous amount of concern about what will happen if the water continues to become even warmer.\u00a0 At this point things are already so bad that we are being warned that this strange anomaly could \u201cravage marine life and decimate commercial fishing\u201d all along the west coast.\u00a0 The following comes from\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2019\/09\/06\/758042120\/is-the-blob-back-latest-marine-heat-wave-could-pose-new-risks-to-sea-life\" target=\"_blank\">NPR<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>A huge new marine heat wave has gripped the waters off the U.S. West Coast, threatening to ravage marine life and decimate commercial fishing over an expanse of the Pacific Ocean.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are being told that this new anomaly is probably similar to another \u201cmarine heatwave\u201d known as \u201cthe Blob\u201d that made global headlines when it struck the region in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And if that is true, then things will definitely get very uncomfortable for marine life, but conditions will eventually go back to normal.&nbsp; Although for the near future we are being warned that this anomaly is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/seattle-news\/environment\/new-marine-heat-wave-resembles-killer-blob-that-devastated-sea-life-on-west-coast-noaa-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201con a trajectory to be as strong as the prior event\u201d<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cIt\u2019s on a trajectory to be as strong as the prior event,\u201d said Andrew Leising, a research scientist at the Southwest Fisheries Science Center.
