{"id":4782,"date":"2015-01-23T07:03:19","date_gmt":"2015-01-23T12:03:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=4782"},"modified":"2015-01-23T07:03:19","modified_gmt":"2015-01-23T12:03:19","slug":"obama-has-sentenced-whistleblowers-to-25-times-the-jail-time-of-all-prior-u-s-presidents-combined","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=4782","title":{"rendered":"Obama Has Sentenced Whistleblowers to 25 Times the Jail Time of All Prior U.S. Presidents COMBINED"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonsblog.com\/2015\/01\/obama-imprisoned-whistleblowers-times-longer-presidents-combined.html\" target=\"_blank\">Obama Has Sentenced Whistleblowers to 25 Times the Jail Time of All Prior U.S. Presidents COMBINED<\/a><\/h3>\n<h3>And Obama Is Arguably More Hostile Towards The Press Than Any President In History<\/h3>\n<p>The Obama administration has\u00a0<a title=\"prosecuted more whistleblowers than all other presidents combined\" href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonsblog.com\/2012\/04\/obama-has-prosecuted-more-whistleblowers-than-all-other-presidents-combined.html\">prosecuted more whistleblowers than\u00a0<em>all other presidents\u00a0<strong>combined<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This administration has also obtained much longer jail sentences against whistleblowers than previous presidents.<\/p>\n<p>ACLU legislative counsel Gabe Rottman\u00a0<a title=\"noted\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/blog\/free-speech\/leak-prosecutions-obama-takes-it-11-or-should-we-say-526\" target=\"_blank\">noted<\/a>\u00a0last October:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Obama administration has secured 526 months of prison time for national security leakers, versus only 24 months total jail time for everyone else since the American Revolution.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>(So \u2013 as of October \u2013 Obama had thrown whistleblowers in jail for\u00a0<a title=\"22 times longer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=526+%2F24&amp;ie=utf-8&amp;oe=utf-8\" target=\"_blank\">22 times longer<\/a>\u00a0than\u00a0<em>all other<\/em>presidents.)<\/p>\n<p>Today,\u00a0<a title=\"whistleblower\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vice.com\/read\/the-us-government-wants-the-media-to-stop-covering-barrett-brown\" target=\"_blank\">whistleblower<\/a>\u00a0Barrett Brown was sentenced to\u00a0<a title=\"63 months\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2015\/jan\/22\/barrett-brown-trial-warns-dangerous-precedent-hacking-sentencing\" target=\"_blank\">63 months<\/a>\u00a0in prison.<\/p>\n<p>So now we\u2019re up to\u00a0<span id=\"yui_3_10_0_1_1421991559982_569\" class=\"inputExpression\">589 months for whistleblowers. That\u2019s\u00a0<a title=\"25 times more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=589%2F24&amp;ie=utf-8&amp;oe=utf-8\" target=\"_blank\">25 times more<\/a>\u00a0time meted out against whistleblowers by Obama than all other presidents\u00a0<em>combined<\/em>.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>But even that stunning figure understates the savagery of the Obama administration\u2019s war on whistleblowers \u2026<\/p>\n<p>After all, Jeremy Hammond \u2013 regarded by many as a\u00a0<a title=\"whistleblower\" href=\"http:\/\/motherboard.vice.com\/blog\/barrett-brown-and-jeremy-hammond-may-be-in-prison-but-their-work-continues\" target=\"_blank\">whistleblower<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 was sentenced by Obama to\u00a0<a title=\"10 years\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jeremy_Hammond\" target=\"_blank\">10 years<\/a>\u00a0in prison.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;click on the above link to read the rest of the article&#8230;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Obama Has Sentenced Whistleblowers to 25 Times the Jail Time of All Prior U.S. Presidents COMBINED And Obama Is Arguably More Hostile Towards The Press Than Any President In History The Obama administration has\u00a0prosecuted more whistleblowers than\u00a0all other presidents\u00a0combined.
