{"id":4778,"date":"2015-01-23T06:51:19","date_gmt":"2015-01-23T11:51:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=4778"},"modified":"2015-01-23T06:51:19","modified_gmt":"2015-01-23T11:51:19","slug":"david-camerons-constituency-safe-from-fracking-as-election-looms-200-mps-are-not-so-lucky","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=4778","title":{"rendered":"David Cameron&#8217;s constituency safe from fracking as election looms &#8211; 200 MPs are not so lucky"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmog.uk\/2015\/01\/23\/over-200-mps-and-their-constituents-won-t-escape-fracking-what-about-david-cameron\" target=\"_blank\">David Cameron&#8217;s constituency safe from fracking as election looms &#8211; 200 MPs are not so lucky<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Half of prime minister David Cameron\u2019s cabinet face having their water reserves fracked under the controversial Infrastructure Bill but it remains unclear if Cameron\u2019s own Oxfordshire constituency would also be subject to\u00a0fracking.<\/p>\n<p>More than 220 Tory and Lib Dem\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">MP<\/span>s and their constituents risk fracking firms drilling through sensitive water reserves in their respective areas, reveals\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/energydesk.greenpeace.org\/2015\/01\/22\/tory-labour-seats-face-fracking-groundwater-concerns\/\" target=\"_blank\">analysis by Greenpeace<span class=\"caps\">UK<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The findings were published just days before\u00a0<span class=\"caps\">MP<\/span>s cast their first vote on the Infrastructure Bill, which currently fails to ban fracking near groundwater reserves, or aquifers, and would see shale gas companies allowed to drill underneath people\u2019s\u00a0houses.<\/p>\n<p>It follows\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2015\/jan\/21\/campaigners-urge-cameron-reconsider-his-stance-fracking?utm_source=Energydesk+Daily+Email&amp;utm_campaign=aa6742fe14-Energydesk_Dispatch5_9_2013&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_ad1a620334-aa6742fe14-114759417\" target=\"_blank\">a petition by environmental campaigners<\/a>\u00a0urging the prime minister to rethink his \u201call out\u201d support for fracking.
