{"id":47520,"date":"2019-07-30T08:45:46","date_gmt":"2019-07-30T13:45:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=47520"},"modified":"2019-07-30T08:45:50","modified_gmt":"2019-07-30T13:45:50","slug":"the-world-is-not-enough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=47520","title":{"rendered":"The World Is Not Enough"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2019-07-29\/world-not-enough\">The World Is Not Enough<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Earth Overshoot Day came on July 29 this year.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/zh-prod-1cc738ca-7d3b-4a72-b792-20bd8d8fa069.storage.googleapis.com\/s3fs-public\/inline-images\/Earth-Overshoot-Day-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/10569\/number-of-earths-needed-if-the-worlds-population-lived-like-following-countries\/\"><em>As Statista&#8217;s Katharina Buchholz notes<\/em><\/a>, this is only the second time the day,&nbsp;<em>which marks the time at which humanity has used up its allotment of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/4739\/environmental-pollution\/\">natural planetary resources&nbsp;<\/a>for the year,<\/em>&nbsp;occurred in the month of July.&nbsp;<strong>It had occurred in August between 2010 and 2017.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The day, whose existence is highlighted by the NGO\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.overshootday.org\/\">Global Footprint Network<\/a>,\u00a0<strong>means that all humans on Earth for this year have already used up more natural resources than mother nature can reproduce annually<\/strong>.
