For instance, millennial men could be standing in front of the billboard; seconds later, a Gillette shaving cream ad is displayed on a giant screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/zh-prod-1cc738ca-7d3b-4a72-b792-20bd8d8fa069.storage.googleapis.com\/s3fs-public\/inline-images\/lookout.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/lookout.png?itok=k1ION13E\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Advertisers operating the new system have claimed it fully complies with the Data Protection Act 2018 because no consumer is identified, nor is their data collected or stored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><iframe allowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>UK law indicates there is no legal requirement to tell shoppers that they&#8217;re being surveilled for commercial purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/zh-prod-1cc738ca-7d3b-4a72-b792-20bd8d8fa069.storage.googleapis.com\/s3fs-public\/inline-images\/lookout%20camera%20location.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/lookout%20camera%20location.png?itok=SpZdLFIQ\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ocean Outdoor is the first advertiser to adopt public surveillance technology for smart billboards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Called the LookOut system, it uses artificial intelligence and cameras to serve adverts to consumers based on gender, age, facial hair, eyewear, mood, and engagement level, stated the Ocean Outdoor&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/zh-prod-1cc738ca-7d3b-4a72-b792-20bd8d8fa069.storage.googleapis.com\/s3fs-public\/inline-images\/consumer%20detection.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/consumer%20detection.png?itok=qWg3PgYf\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The company lists several ways in which LookOut can be used:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Optimization<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 delivering the appropriate creative to the right audience at the right time.<\/li><li><strong>Visualize<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Gaze recognition to trigger creative or an interactive experience<\/li><li><strong>AR Enabled<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Using the HD cameras to create an augmented reality mirror or window effect, creating deep consumer engagement via the latest technology<\/li><li><strong>Analytics<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Understanding your brand\u2019s audience, post-campaign analysis and creative testing<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Ocean Outdoor&#8217;s chief executive Tim Bleakley told The Sunday Times: &#8220;We pioneered a facial detection technology which identifies the characteristics of the face to allow you to talk to advertisers about mood, gender, emotion and those kind of things.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;We can measure the level of happiness or sadness.
