Will they heed Mark Carney and other central bankers?&nbsp;Photo by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/takver\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Takver<\/a>, Creative Commons licensed.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>They may find themselves feeling just a little shaky, however, after a recent&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bankofengland.co.uk\/news\/2019\/april\/open-letter-on-climate-related-financial-risks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">open letter<\/a>&nbsp;written by Canadian Mark Carney, governor of the Bank of England, with Banque de France governor Fran\u00e7ois Velleroy de Falhau and Frank Elderson, chair of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mainstreamingclimate.org\/ngfs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Network for Greening the Financial Services (NGFS)<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These guys are not shaggy&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2019\/apr\/22\/people-arrested-at-london-climate-protests\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Extinction Rebellion<\/a>&nbsp;protesters being busted in London. And teenage activist&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Greta_Thunberg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Greta Thunberg<\/a>&nbsp;would likely ask why they took so long to admit what\u2019s been obvious since long before she was born in 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Carney and his colleagues advise the masters of the universe; they are the consiglieri of the world\u2019s corporate capos, and when they murmur a warning in the capos\u2019 collective ear, wise capos heed them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their open letter announced the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.banque-france.fr\/sites\/default\/files\/media\/2019\/04\/17\/ngfs_first_comprehensive_report_-_17042019_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first report<\/a>&nbsp;of the Network for Greening the Financial Services, a group that includes central bankers from around the world.
