For one thing, don\u2019t expect regulation of shale gas drilling, Michael Graney, executive director of the West Virginia Development Office,&nbsp;predicted in his&nbsp;presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cContrasted to other&nbsp;U.S.&nbsp;regions, Tri-State region is industry-supportive and industry-friendly,\u201d read a slide that Graney, who was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/governor.wv.gov\/News\/press-releases\/2018\/Pages\/Gov.-Justice-Announces-Michael-Graney-as-Executive-Director-of-the-West-Virginia-Development-Office.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">appointed<\/a>&nbsp;by West Virginia Governor Jim Justice in September&nbsp;2018, presented to the conference. \u201cVirtually no risk of drilling&nbsp;restrictions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Graney also elicited \u201challelujahs\u201d&nbsp;from the crowd after describing West Virginia&#8217;s low worker turnover&nbsp;rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have earned an A from the Cato Institute in fiscal policies,\u201d he told representatives from fossil fuel and petrochemical companies, referring to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmogblog.com\/cato-institute\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a libertarian think tank<\/a>&nbsp;that Sourcewatch&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sourcewatch.org\/index.php\/Cato_Institute\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">describes<\/a>&nbsp;as \u201cfounded by Charles G. Credit: Sharon Kelly,&nbsp;DeSmog<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the ninth annual West Virginia Manufacturers Association&#8217;s Marcellus and Manufacturing Development Conference, officials from the U.S.&nbsp;Department of Energy (DOE) offered the petrochemical industry the services of the federal&nbsp;government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd what we&#8217;re going to do is everything within the government&#8217;s power to shine a bright light on this and help get this over the finish line,\u201d Steven Winberg, the Department of Energy\u2019s Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy, told the conference. \u201cWith regard to&nbsp;DOE, there&#8217;s a couple of things that we can do.
