{"id":44648,"date":"2019-03-21T16:49:25","date_gmt":"2019-03-21T21:49:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=44648"},"modified":"2019-03-21T16:49:29","modified_gmt":"2019-03-21T21:49:29","slug":"the-big-short-in-canada-eisman-ups-bets-against-big-six-canadian-banks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=44648","title":{"rendered":"The &#8216;Big Short&#8217; In Canada: Eisman Ups Bets Against &#8220;Big Six&#8221; Canadian Banks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2019-03-21\/big-short-canada-eisman-ups-bets-against-big-six-canadian-banks\">The &#8216;Big Short&#8217; In Canada: Eisman Ups Bets Against &#8220;Big Six&#8221; Canadian Banks\u00a0<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the last year, Neuberger Berman portfolio manager Steve Eisman &#8211; who gained notoriety beyond Wall Street thanks to &#8216;The Big Short&#8217; and his portrayal by Steve Carrell in the movie adaptation &#8211; has taken seemingly every opportunity to talk his book, which apparently consists of concentrated bets against the financial systems of two developed nations: The UK and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Though UK banks largely bottomed out in October and have managed only a tepid rebound since, their Canadian peers have clawed back much of their losses from late last year.
