Twitter Restricts Account of Julian Assange\u2019s Mother<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The social media giant has given no reason to Christine Assange who had turned to Twitter to campaign for the liberty of her son<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Twitter account of Christine Assange, the mother of the arbitrarily detained founder of WikiLeaks, has been restricted, she told Consortium News<\/strong> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy Twitter account has been \u2018blocked due to \u2018unusual activity,’\u201d Ms. Assange wrote in a text message. Twitter, however, has provided her no reason for its action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Assange is a prolific user of Twitter in her campaign to free her son who has been a refugee in the Ecuador embassy in London since 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twitter has posted the following message on her page:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While a user can access her page by agreeing to view her profile, Ms. Assange told Consortium News<\/strong> she is unable to post new Tweets to her account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her last post, at 11:55 am on Tuesday in Australia, where she lives, is a retweet of an article<\/a> published about her son. She posted 12 tweets in the past 24 hours. \u201cInteresting that it followed on from a day of my tweets about free speech and calling on journalists globally to stand up for Julian,\u201d Ms. Assange said in a text message. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinton and Bolton<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the past ten days, Ms. Assange tweeted direct replies to Hillary Clinton and John Bolton, the U.S. national security adviser. Bolton had tweeted on March 9: \u201cUS military should use #Wikileaks<\/a> for cyber warfare target practice. Take down their capabilities & prevent further harm to nat\u2019l security.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Assange\u2019s reply to Bolton is no longer visible under his tweet.  Nine replies to Bolton are now \u201cunavailable.\u201d Ms. Assange said in a text message that her reply began by calling Bolton\u2019s tweet, \u201cFascist talk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
