{"id":44373,"date":"2019-03-10T11:20:23","date_gmt":"2019-03-10T16:20:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=44373"},"modified":"2019-03-10T11:20:25","modified_gmt":"2019-03-10T16:20:25","slug":"prepping-for-normal-people-how-to-prep-when-youre-not-an-epic-wilderness-survival-guru","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=44373","title":{"rendered":"Prepping for Normal People: How to Prep When You\u2019re NOT an Epic Wilderness Survival Guru"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theorganicprepper.com\/how-to-prep-when-youre-not-an-epic-wilderness-survival-guru\/\">Prepping for Normal People: How to Prep When You\u2019re NOT an Epic Wilderness Survival Guru <\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Did you ever read a blog post on a prepper site and sigh, because the person writing the post seemed to have been&nbsp;<em>born<\/em>&nbsp;a survivalist?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In your mind\u2019s eye, you could envision them at the tender age of six, weaving a snare from some vines that they wisely assessed&nbsp;<em>not<\/em>&nbsp;to be poison ivy, catching a rabbit, skinning and gutting it with a pocketknife, and cooking it over a fire they started with two sticks that they rubbed together, while wearing their little elementary-school-sized camo outfit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discouraging, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But not everyone can be&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00NI1VFYI\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B00NI1VFYI&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=start033-20&amp;linkId=JAIYRH3YEREC5FMG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daryl Dixon<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Normal people can survive, too.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prepping for normal people often seems out of reach, but it\u2019s not as outrageous as it sounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, I really don\u2019t believe that the majority of preppers actually&nbsp;<em>are<\/em>&nbsp;rugged survival gurus. Most of us had to make a conscious effort to learn. Most of us aren\u2019t wilderness guides or professional hunters or military special forces operatives. &nbsp;We don\u2019t regularly pop a deer in the backyard with a homemade bow, we don\u2019t have a bunker with 30 years of storable food and an aquifer we can access from within the safety of its walls, we don\u2019t isolate our children from all forms of popular culture, and we don\u2019t live in the middle of nowhere, so deep in the woods that we have to carefully climb a tree while clenching a laptop in our teeth to get an internet signal.
