The Yellow Vest Movement Has Gone Global<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Yellow Vest anti-government movement started in France on November 17, when over 300,000 people across France protested a carbon tax on fuel that French President Emmanuel Macron touted as evidence of France’s leadership when it comes to mitigating climate change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Yellow Vest protests quickly evolved into a general anti-government movement – with hundreds of thousands of angry French citizens taking to the streets for ten straight weeks <\/strong>of mostly peaceful protests marked with pockets of violence, looting and mayhem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s more –\u00a0the movement has gone worldwide –\u00a0<\/strong>with perhaps the most notable protests outside France taking place in\u00a0Belgium<\/strong>, where\u00a0Brussels riot cops have dealt with week after week of protesters blocking oil depot and\u00a0throwing hard objects<\/a>\u00a0at them.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#YellowVests<\/a> march on #Brussels<\/a> amid ongoing political turmoil <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On December 8, Belgians attempted to breach a riot barricade while calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Charles Michel, resulting in around 100 arrests<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And while most of the protests outside of France happened last month, this is a good list to note where discontent is mounting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
