{"id":4286,"date":"2015-01-09T07:07:04","date_gmt":"2015-01-09T12:07:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=4286"},"modified":"2015-01-09T07:07:04","modified_gmt":"2015-01-09T12:07:04","slug":"uk-trade-deficit-narrows-after-oil-price-falls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=4286","title":{"rendered":"UK trade deficit narrows after oil price falls"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"story-header\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/business-30739453\" target=\"_blank\">UK trade deficit narrows after oil price falls<\/a><\/h3>\n<p id=\"story_continues_1\" class=\"introduction\">The falling price of oil helped to narrow the UK&#8217;s trade gap with the rest of the world in November to its lowest since June 2013, official figures show.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ons.gov.uk\/ons\/dcp171778_390022.pdf\">Office for National Statistics (ONS)<\/a>\u00a0said the UK&#8217;s deficit in goods and services was \u00a31.4bn in November, compared with \u00a32.2bn in October.<\/p>\n<p>But it said this reflected a fall in the value of imports rather than an increase in export activity.<\/p>\n<p>Imports fell \u00a31.1bn in the month, which included a \u00a30.7bn fall in oil imports.<\/p>\n<p>The price of Brent crude oil has fallen by more than 50% since August.
