{"id":41745,"date":"2018-12-17T09:03:28","date_gmt":"2018-12-17T14:03:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=41745"},"modified":"2018-12-17T09:03:28","modified_gmt":"2018-12-17T14:03:28","slug":"ron-paul-the-market-correction-could-make-things-worse-than-1929","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=41745","title":{"rendered":"Ron Paul: The Market Correction Could Make Things \u2018Worse Than 1929\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shtfplan.com\/ron-paul\/ron-paul-the-market-correction-could-make-things-worse-than-1929_12172018\">Ron Paul: The Market Correction Could Make Things \u2018Worse Than 1929\u2019<\/a><\/h3>\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-53544\" src=\"http:\/\/shtfplan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/ron-paul-e1515602822463.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"309\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Former presidential candidate, Dr. Ron Paul says that the current market conditions are ripe for a correction of 50% and Wall Street is vulnerable to depression-like conditions in the next year.\u00a0\u201cIt could be worse than 1929,\u201d Dr. Paul said recently in an interview.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2018\/12\/14\/ron-paul-market-meltdown-could-spark-depression-like-conditions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul said Thursday on <em>CNBC<\/em>\u2018s<\/a> \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/futures-now\/\">Futures Now that<\/a>\u00a0\u201cOnce this volatility shows that we\u2019re not going to resume the bull market, then people are going to rush for the exits.\u201d\u00a0 Paul added that \u201cit could be worse than 1929.\u201d\u00a0 He was referencing the fateful day in October of 1929 when the stock market crashed, and the United States was flung into the Great Depression that lasted ten years. During that year, a worldwide depression was ignited because of the U.S.\u2019s market crash.\u00a0 The stock market began hemorrhaging and after falling almost 90 percent, sent the U.S. economy crashing a burning.<\/p>\n<p>And of course, no one believes it could happen again. But Dr. Paul is continuously warning against the media\u2019s constant optimism. As well-known Libertarian, Paul has been warning Wall Street that a massive market plunge is inevitable for years. He\u2019s currently projecting a 50 percent decline from current levels as his base case, citing the ongoing U.S.-China trade war as a growing risk factor. \u201cI\u2019m not optimistic that all of the sudden, you\u2019re going to eliminate the tariff problem.
