A significant\u00a0and possibly “historic” winter storm is pounding\u00a0North Carolina to central and southern Virginia with heavy snowfall will bring\u00a0the likelihood of widespread power outages and travel disruptions into early next week.<\/p>\n

AccuWeather<\/a> meteorologists forecast the heaviest snowfall\u00a0is expected from the southern Appalachians into the western Piedmont of North Carolina and southern Virginia. Snowfall totals could range in the 12 to 18 inches range<\/strong>,\u00a0especially in the mountains of North Carolina with the possibility of over two feet of snow.<\/p>\n
