Google – which was exposed trying to help Hillary Clinton<\/a> win the 2016 election, and who were beside themselves<\/a> after she lost – discussed whether to bury conservative media outlets in the company’s search function after Donald Trump became president, according to the\u00a0Daily Caller News Foundation<\/em>‘s Peter Hasson.<\/p>\n

Internal communications obtained by the\u00a0Caller\u00a0<\/em>reveal that The Daily Caller and Breitbart were specifically singled out for potential censorship.<\/p>\n

Communications obtained by TheDCNF show that internal Google discussions went beyond expressing remorse over Clinton\u2019s loss to actually discussing ways\u00a0Google<\/a>\u00a0could prevent Trump from winning again<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

\u201cThis was an election of false equivalencies, and Google, sadly, had a hand in it<\/strong>,\u201d Google engineer Scott Byer wrote in a Nov. 9, 2016, post reviewed by TheDCNF.<\/p>\n

Byer falsely labeled The Daily Caller and Breitbart as \u201copinion blogs\u201d and urged his coworkers to reduce their visibility in search results.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow many times did you see the Election now card with items from opinion blogs (Breitbart, Daily Caller) elevated next to legitimate news organizations?<\/strong> That\u2019s something that can and should be fixed,\u201d Byer wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we have a responsibility to expose the quality and truthfulness of sources<\/strong> \u2013 because not doing so hides real information under loud noises,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeyond that, let\u2019s concentrate on teaching critical thinking. A little bit of that would go a long way. Let\u2019s make sure that we reverse things in four years \u2013 demographics will be on our side<\/strong>.\u201d –DCNF<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Not all Google employees agreed with the notion of censoring conservative outlets; engineer Uri Dekel – a self-described Clinton supporter, argued that manipulating search results was the wrong approach.<\/p>\n
