{"id":40554,"date":"2018-11-15T06:40:48","date_gmt":"2018-11-15T11:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=40554"},"modified":"2018-11-15T06:40:48","modified_gmt":"2018-11-15T11:40:48","slug":"language-the-indispensable-fundamental-actuator-of-false-orthodoxy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=40554","title":{"rendered":"Language: The Indispensable Fundamental Actuator of False Orthodoxy"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theburningplatform.com\/2018\/11\/13\/language-the-indispensable-fundamental-actuator-of-false-orthodoxy\/#more-186850\">Language: The Indispensable Fundamental Actuator of False Orthodoxy<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"post-thumbnail\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theburningplatform.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/1_2A_Lang-TBP-Copy.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 60vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theburningplatform.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/1_2A_Lang-TBP-Copy.jpg 711w, https:\/\/www.theburningplatform.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/1_2A_Lang-TBP-Copy-350x210.jpg 350w\" alt=\"\" width=\"711\" height=\"427\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>In Ayn Rand\u2019s penultimate magnum opus, <em>\u201cThe Fountainhead\u201d<\/em>, there was a minor antagonist by the name of Ellsworth Toohey whose <em>raison d\u2019etre<\/em> was to undermine Rand\u2019s ideal man and protagonist, Howard Roark.<\/p>\n<p>Although Toohey considered his parasitical power as having a major stifling effect on capitalistic society, in reality, all his cumulative efforts ended up as a mere minor footnote in the long march of Man; as evidenced in the story\u2019s denouement and ensuing towering city skylines.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, much of Rand\u2019s life consisted of excoriating the parasitical aspect of the Collectivists and their government, as both defined by <em>dependency<\/em>; in stark contrast to the rugged <em>self-reliance<\/em> of the men who moved the world.<\/p>\n<p>In <em>The Fountainhead<\/em>, a discussion took place whereby Toohey said he wanted to make the \u201cideological soil\u201d infertile to the point where young heads would explode prior to expressing any individuality (or similar to that).\u00a0 Then, later, near the end, Toohey asked Roark what Roark thought of him, and the egoistic, self-reliant architect replied: <em>\u201cBut I don\u2019t think of you.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In reality, is it possible today to ignore the Collective? Or, has it propagated sufficiently to where it can be ignored no longer?<\/p>\n<p>Acceptance of <em>reality<\/em> requires <em>honesty<\/em>.\u00a0 And the author Ayn Rand identified <em>reason<\/em> as the means for Man\u2019s thriving existence on this blue marble.
