In addition to\u00a0several nuclear accidents &#8211; <strong>including the worst nuclear meltdown in US history,\u00a0<\/strong>toxic materials have accumulated on-site from years of dumping, just miles from\u00a0thousands of residents.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/santa.png?itok=dCRUAddJ\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/santa.png?itok=dCRUAddJ\" data-link-option=\"0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/santa.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/inline_image_desktop\/public\/inline-images\/santa.png?itok=dCRUAddJ 1x\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"360\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"f1f9ded1-76bd-4f4e-b2c8-7e0602c3f563\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/woolsey-fire-map-desktop.jpg?itok=GRDunW2C\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/woolsey-fire-map-desktop.jpg?itok=GRDunW2C\" data-link-option=\"0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/woolsey-fire-map-desktop.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/inline_image_desktop\/public\/inline-images\/woolsey-fire-map-desktop.jpg?itok=GRDunW2C 1x\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"365\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"16dc0135-4212-4256-88c1-b32ea9c5eb5c\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It was the site of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/data.nbcstations.com\/national\/KNBC\/la-nuclear-secret\/\">several nuclear accidents<\/a>, including the worst nuclear meltdown in US history when, in 1959, facility operators intentionally vented nuclear material from the site\u2019s \u201cSodium Reactor Experiment\u201d to prevent it from overheating and exploding. <strong>By the time the leaks were closed, the site had released\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/psmag.com\/environment\/50-years-after-nuclear-meltdown-3510\">459 times more radiation<\/a>\u00a0than was leaked during the better-known 1979 meltdown at Three Mile Island<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The lab property, now owned by airplane manufacturer Boeing, stretches for 2,800 acres in the Simi Hills, and <strong>remains contaminated with toxic materials.<\/strong> Thousands of people live within two miles of the site, and roughly half a million live within 10 miles, according to an investigation by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/data.nbcstations.com\/national\/KNBC\/la-nuclear-secret\/\">NBC 4 Los Angeles<\/a>. -Quartz<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>California officials with the state&#8217;s Department of Toxic Substances Control said that as of Friday, November 9, an area of the SSFL site which was scorched by the Woolsey fire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dtsc.ca.gov\/upload\/Community-Update-on-Woolsey-Fire-and-SSFL.pdf\">posed no danger<\/a>, stating &#8220;Our scientists and toxicologists have reviewed information about the fire\u2019s location and do not believe the fire has caused any releases of hazardous materials that would pose a risk to people exposed to the smoke.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2026click on the above link to read the rest of the article\u2026<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SoCal Fire May Have Ejected &#8220;Incredibly Dangerous&#8221;
