{"id":39259,"date":"2018-10-17T06:12:15","date_gmt":"2018-10-17T11:12:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=39259"},"modified":"2018-10-17T06:12:15","modified_gmt":"2018-10-17T11:12:15","slug":"big-tech-has-performed-the-greatest-bait-and-switch-in-american-history-as-it-now-turns-on-free-speech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=39259","title":{"rendered":"Big Tech Has Performed the \u201cGreatest Bait-and-Switch in American History\u201d As It Now Turns On Free Speech"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"td-post-header td-pb-padding-side\">\n<header>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"http:\/\/planetfreewill.com\/big-tech-greatest-bait-and-switch-in-american-history-free-speech\/\">Big Tech Has Performed the \u201cGreatest Bait-and-Switch in American History\u201d As It Now Turns On Free Speech<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/header>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"td-post-content td-pb-padding-side\">\n<p><strong>Big tech companies\u00a0such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube have performed \u201cperhaps the greatest bait-and-switch in American history\u201d as they now have committed to an about-face to the American value of free speech.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That is the assessment of <em>Breitbart New<\/em>\u2018s Allum Bokhari who exclusively presented a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2018\/10\/09\/the-good-censor-leaked-google-briefing-admits-abandonment-of-free-speech-for-safety-and-civility\/\">leaked Google internal briefing titled <\/a><em>\u201cThe Good Censor\u201d\u00a0<\/em>to the public on October 9th, exposing the world once again to major tech companies\u2019 attitude towards the bedrock of traditional American attitude.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe Good Censor\u201d\u00a0<\/em>is an 85-page briefing that openly admits that Google and other tech platforms are undertaking a\u00a0\u201cshift towards censorship\u201d in response to unwelcome political events around the world.\u00a0Unsurprisingly \u2013 especially\u00a0after<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2018\/09\/12\/leaked-video-google-leaderships-dismayed-reaction-to-trump-election\/\">leaked video showed google employees in an emotional meltdown<\/a> after the election victory of Donald J. Trump \u2013 <em>The Good Censor\u00a0<\/em>cites\u00a0the 2016 U.S. presidential election and the rise of the populist Alternative for\u00a0Deutschland (AfD) party in Germany as unwelcomed events.<\/p>\n<p>While admitting the shift away from free speech it is also simultaneously admitted that those select\u00a0few giants\u00a0\u201ccontrol the majority of online conversations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The briefing goes into how Google, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube are stuck in a position of going along with\u00a0the \u201cunmediated marketplace of ideas\u201d (free speech and free markets) vs. \u201cwell-ordered spaces for safety and civility\u201d (censorship).
