(rawpixel\/pixababy)<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"post_title\">\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/surveillance-capitalism-monetizing-the-smartphone-user_2686194.html\">Surveillance Capitalism: Monetizing the Smartphone User<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"post_content\">\n<p><em>Commentary<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This article is part of a series on corporate surveillance highlighting\u00a0civil liberty, privacy, cyber security, safety, and tech-product user exploitation threats associated with connected products that are supported by the Android (Google) OS, Apple iOS, and Microsoft Windows OS.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Today, people, businesses, government officials, and law makers are unaware of the business model that\u00a0supports their favorite technology such as smartphones and connected products that are supported\u00a0by the Android, Apple, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.<\/p>\n<p>The connected-product business model comprises surveillance and data mining business practices\u00a0rooted in \u201csurveillance capitalism.\u201d These are terms that the public is unaware of because all\u00a0parties concerned are not transparent about their business practices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Addictive, Intrusive, and Exploitative<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Companies that have adopted a surveillance capitalism business model are in the business to exploit\u00a0their paying customers or product users for financial gain at the expense of the user\u2019s civil\u00a0liberties, privacy, cybersecurity, and safety, whether the product user is an adult or a child.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t take my word for this claim: Former Alphabet Inc. executive chairman Eric Schmidt, Facebook co-founder Sean Parker, and former Google designer Tristan Harris admit that Google and Facebook\u00a0develop addictive, intrusive, and even potentially harmful technology in order to exploit the product\u00a0user for financial gain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI actually think most people don\u2019t want Google to answer their questions. \u2026 They want Google to tell\u00a0them what they should be doing next,\u201d Schmidt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/SB10001424052748704901104575423294099527212\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a>The Wall Street Journal in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026click on the above link to read the rest of the article\u2026<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Smartphones and tablets give you access to information wherever you are.
