Moscow On US Idea To Block Russian Trade: Naval Blockade Would Mean WAR<\/a><\/h3>\n

In a new report, United States Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke suggested the US could use the Navy to block Russian energy from hitting Middle East markets. But the head of the Russian Senate\u2019s Information Policy Committee, Aleksey Pushkov, said that act would mean \u201cwar\u201d with the US.<\/p>\n

Zinke appeared to be concerned that the real reason behind Russia\u2019s involvement in Syria is trade expansion. Pushokov said that that is\u00a0\u201cabsolute nonsense,\u201d according to Russia Today<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>The idea that Russia could potentially supply energy to the Middle East, which is literally\u00a0<\/em>\u201coozing with oil,\u201d\u00a0is absolutely detached from reality, Pushkov said.\u00a0\u00a0Russia does not supply any energy to the region, which is itself a major oil exporter and has never announced any plans to do so.<\/p>\n

The Russian senator added that Zinke\u2019s statement is\u00a0\u201con par\u201d\u00a0with Sarah Palin\u2019s claim that she was qualified to talk about Russia since\u00a0\u201cthey\u2019re our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia here from Alaska.\u201d\u00a0The former Alaska governor made the statement in an interview when she was the Republican vice-presidential candidate in the 2008 US election. -RT<\/em><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Attempts to exert further pressure on Russia\u00a0\u201care not going to end in anything good,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0a member of the Russian Senate\u2019s Defense and Security Committee, Franz Klintsevich, told journalists, according to RT<\/em><\/a>. Klintsevich added that these attempts would lead\u00a0\u201cto a major scandal\u201d\u00a0at the very least, and Washington\u00a0\u201cshould clearly understand it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Trump administration has been seeking to replace Russia as Europe\u2019s gas supplier by boosting exports of its liquefied natural gas, even though Russian gas is a cheaper option for Europe. The Trump Administration is also going to have a tough time convincing countries to do more business with them in light of an economically disastrous trade war<\/a> and ever-increasing tariffs on imported goods.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n
