Residents of over two dozen homes, including Belczyk, were evacuated, with one family <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alleghenyfront.org\/pipeline-explosion-in-beaver-county-prompts-evacuation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">barely escaping<\/a> the flames that engulfed their home, neighbors said. Interstate 376 was shut down amid concern over falling power lines, including a half-dozen high tension towers, which left 1,500 people temporarily without electricity. No one was injured or killed by the blast, authorities said, and because of recent rains, the possibility of a forest fire was\u00a0averted.<\/p>\n<p>The 24\u201d diameter pipeline responsible for the blast had gone into service just seven days earlier. It\u2019s owned by Energy Transfer Partners, the same pipeline company behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmogblog.com\/energy-transfer-partners-bakken-oil-pipeline-through-iowa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dakota Access Pipeline<\/a> project and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmogblog.com\/2018\/07\/09\/court-reaffirms-bayou-bridge-pipeline-ok-cut-through-america-s-largest-river-swamp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bayou Bridge<\/a> pipeline in\u00a0Louisiana.<\/p>\n<p>The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has said it <a href=\"https:\/\/stateimpact.npr.org\/pennsylvania\/2018\/09\/11\/pipeline-explosion-part-of-line-shut-down-during-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suspects<\/a> that the blast was caused by heavy rainfall, which they believe may have caused the pipeline to slip on the saturated ground, break, and then\u00a0explode.<\/p>\n<p>Energy Transfer Partners dubbed its new \u201cgathering\u201d line the Revolution pipeline.
