NATO is not as unified as it once was, and Turkey\u2019s membership has become more of a formality than a real thing. A pro-US group consisting of Great Britain, Poland, and the Baltic States has emerged as part of a North Atlantic Alliance that is divided by differences and the open rift over the 2% financial contribution, a decree that is largely ignored, along with the other divisions that are weakening the bloc.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.strategic-culture.org\/news\/2018\/05\/14\/us-sweden-finland-boost-military-cooperation-form-new-alliance.html\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.strategic-culture.org\/news\/2018\/05\/14\/us-sweden-finland-boost-military-cooperation-form-new-alliance.html\">O<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.strategic-culture.org\/news\/2018\/05\/14\/us-sweden-finland-boost-military-cooperation-form-new-alliance.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ther groups<\/a> are arising that also have common security interests. A new pact, an Arab NATO allied with the United States, will soon\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.strategic-culture.org\/news\/2017\/02\/17\/new-military-alliance-formed-middle-east.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.strategic-culture.org\/news\/2017\/02\/17\/new-military-alliance-formed-middle-east.html\">materialize<\/a>\u00a0in the Middle East.\u00a0 Changes are coming, but they are hard to predict as everything is currently in a state of flux.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe United States is interested in increasing its use of military bases and ports in Greece,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ekathimerini.com\/232306\/article\/ekathimerini\/news\/us-interested-in-increasing-use-of-greek-military-bases-ports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/www.ekathimerini.com\/232306\/article\/ekathimerini\/news\/us-interested-in-increasing-use-of-greek-military-bases-ports\">said<\/a>\u00a0General Joseph Dunford,\u00a0the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), on Sept. 4 during his visit to Athens.\u00a0<em> \u201cIf you look at geography, and you look at current operations in Libya, and you look at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/flashpoints\/2018\/08\/31\/the-looming-final-battle-for-syrias-rebels-a-look-at-whats-ahead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/flashpoints\/2018\/08\/31\/the-looming-final-battle-for-syrias-rebels-a-look-at-whats-ahead\/\">current operations in Syria<\/a>, you look at potential other operations in the eastern Mediterranean, the geography of Greece and the opportunities here are pretty significant,\u201d<\/em> he added.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2018\/09\/04\/us-greece-look-at-increasing-military-presence-amid-tension-with-turkey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2018\/09\/04\/us-greece-look-at-increasing-military-presence-amid-tension-with-turkey\/\">According to<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0Military Times, <em>\u201c[N]o specific bases have been identified, but that Supreme Allied Commander Europe Army Gen.
