Ten Bombshell Revelations From Seymour Hersh’s New Autobiography<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Among the more interesting revelations to surface as legendary investigative journalist Seymour Hersh continues a book tour and gives interviews discussing\u00a0his newly published autobiography,\u00a0Reporter: A Memoir<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>is that he never set out to write it at all, but was actually deeply engaged in writing a massive expos\u00e9 of Dick Cheney\u00a0\u2014 <\/em>a project he decided couldn’t ultimately be published in the current climate of aggressive persecution of whistleblowers which became especially intense during\u00a0the Obama years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Hersh has pointed out he worries his sources risk exposure while taking on the Cheney book, which ultimately resulted in the famed reporter opting to write an\u00a0in-depth account of his storied career instead\u00a0\u2014\u00a0<\/em>itself full of previously hidden details connected with major historical events\u00a0and state secrets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In a recent wide-ranging interview with the UK\u00a0Independent<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0Hersh is finally asked to discuss in-depth some of the controversial investigative stories he’s written on Syria<\/a>, Russia-US intelligence sharing<\/a>, and the Osama bin Laden death narrative<\/a>,\u00a0which have gotten the Pulitzer Prize winner and five-time Polk Award recipient essentially blacklisted<\/strong> from his regular publication, The<\/em> New<\/em>Yorker\u00a0<\/em>magazine, for which he broke stories of monumental importance for decades.<\/p>\n

Though few would disagree that\u00a0Hersh “has single-handedly broken more stories of genuine world-historical significance than any reporter alive (or dead, perhaps)”<\/em>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0<\/em>as The Nation<\/em> put it<\/a>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0<\/em>the man who exposed shocking\u00a0cover-ups\u00a0like the\u00a0My Lai Massacre, the\u00a0Abu Ghraib prison scandal, and\u00a0the truth behind the downing of Korean Air Flight 007<\/a>, has lately been shunned and even attacked by the American mainstream media especially over his controversial coverage of Syria and the\u00a0bin Laden raid in 2011.<\/p>\n
