{"id":36394,"date":"2018-08-04T11:20:07","date_gmt":"2018-08-04T16:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=36394"},"modified":"2018-08-04T11:20:30","modified_gmt":"2018-08-04T16:20:30","slug":"judicial-watch-fbi-records-show-dossier-author-deemed-not-suitable-for-use-as-source-show-several-fbi-payments-in-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=36394","title":{"rendered":"Judicial Watch: FBI Records Show Dossier Author Deemed \u2018Not Suitable For Use\u2019 as Source, Show Several FBI Payments in 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"CWH2SP\"><a title=\"Judicial Watch: FBI Records Show Dossier Author Deemed \u2018Not Suitable For Use\u2019 as Source, Show Several FBI Payments in 2016 - Judicial Watch\" href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/press-room\/press-releases\/judicial-watch-fbi-records-show-dossier-author-deemed-not-suitable-for-use-as-source-show-several-fbi-payments-in-2016\/\">Judicial Watch: FBI Records Show Dossier Author Deemed \u2018Not Suitable For Use\u2019 as Source, Show Several FBI Payments in 2016<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><strong><em>Documents Reveal Steele Was Admonished in February, 2016<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>(Washington, DC)<\/strong> \u2013 Judicial Watch announced today the FBI turned over <a class=\"extl\" href=\"https:\/\/judicialwatch-my.sharepoint.com\/personal\/tfitton_judicialwatch_org\/Documents\/Document.docx?web=1\">70 pages of heavily redacted records<\/a> about Christopher Steele, the former British spy, hired with Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee funds, who authored the infamous Dossier targeting President Trump during last year\u2019s presidential campaign.\u00a0 The documents show that Steele was cut off as a \u201cConfidential Human Source\u201d (CHS) after he disclosed his relationship with the FBI to a third party.\u00a0 The documents show at least 11 FBI payments to Steele in 2016 and document that he was admonished for unknown reasons in February, 2016.\u00a0 The documents were turned over in response to Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/press-room\/press-releases\/judicial-watch-sues-fbi-records-uk-trump-dossier\/\">lawsuit<\/a> against the U.S. Department of Justice for records of communications and payments between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele and his private firm, Orbis Business Intelligence (<em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/document-archive\/jw-v-doj-steele-orbis-complaint-00916\/\">Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice<\/a><\/u> <\/em>(No. 1:17-cv-00916)).<\/p>\n<p>The documents include a \u201csource closing communication\u201d that states that Steele (referred to as \u201cCHS\u201d or Confidential Human Source) \u201cis being closed\u201d because:<\/p>\n<p>CHS confirmed to an outside third party that CHS has a confidential relationship with the FBI. CHS was used as a source for an online article. In the article, CHS revealed CHS\u2019 relationship with the FBI as well as information that CHS obtained and provided to FBI. On November 1, 2016, CHS confirmed all of this to the handling agent. At that time, handling agent advised CHS that the nature of the relationship between the FBI and CHS would change completely and that it was unlikely that the FBI would continue a relationship with the CHS.
