\u201cIt Was Only A Matter of Time\u201d: Trump Sets His Sights on the Fed\u2019s Tightening and the Strong Dollar<\/h3>\n

Who says that the President doesn\u2019t \u2013 and shouldn\u2019t<\/em> \u2013 pay attention to the U.S. Dollar\u2019s value?<\/p>\n

Well \u2013 President Trump sure does. . .<\/p>\n

Just look at his tweets from this morning. . .<\/p>\n

This came just a few hours after Trump criticized<\/a> the Federal Reserve\u2019s tightening path.<\/p>\n

Trump went on to say during an interview with CNBC that he\u2019s \u201cnot thrilled\u201d<\/em> with the Fed\u2019s tightening \u2013 potentially slowing the economy.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t like all of this work that we\u2019re putting into the economy and then I see rates going up.\u201d said Trump<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

His comments shocked many. There\u2019s a tradition \u2013 or rather a taboo<\/em> \u2013 that the White House stays away from monetary policy.<\/p>\n

But we should know better \u2013 Trump will always do what Trump wants.<\/em><\/p>\n

And it\u2019s clear that what trump wants is a weaker dollar. . .<\/p>\n

So far, the Fed\u2019s hiked rates five<\/em> times since Trump entered office.\u00a0And from what I can see, the economic growth cycle has peaked<\/a> and now is\u00a0heading downwards.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve written that over the last 15 months \u2013 the U.S. economy has grown a bit. But that was all from a weakening<\/em> dollar<\/em>.<\/p>\n

From January 2017 to February 2018 \u2013 the USD fell more than 14%. This greatly boosted<\/a> exports and helped growth \u2013 not to mention the massive amount of debt the Treasury piled on and is trickled\u00a0down into the economy.<\/p>\n

But since March, there\u2019s been a massive<\/em> short-covering rally for the dollar. And that fueled a reflexive<\/a><\/em> short-term feedback loop into an even stronger<\/em> dollar, all-while decimating Emerging Markets and commodities \u2013 basically anything that\u2019s anti-dollar<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Now the rapidly strengthening dollar is becoming a hinderance<\/a> \u2013 especially when Trump has engaged the U.S. into a trade war with the second largest economy in the world \u2013 China.<\/p>\n
