In that regard it\u2019s no wonder the U.S. public is generally unaware of U.S. military interventions in parts of the world, particularly in Latin America. That way U.S. imperial excess gets a pass.<\/p>\n<p>Political ramifications would be more likely if stories like two recent good examples from Argentina were known about. One of them is a warm-up to the other, which is the main show here.<\/p>\n<p>On July 12 a Hercules C-130 U.S. military transport plane landed at a military base near Buenos Aires with at least eight U.S. Special Forces troops on board, along with \u201c<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/es-ar\/noticias\/otras\/volvi%C3%B3-a-la-argentina-el-avi%C3%B3n-militar-de-estados-unidos-que-hab%C3%ADa-sido-retenido-por-el-ex-canciller-h%C3%A9ctor-timerman\/ar-AAzZNFH\">arms, explosives<\/a><\/u>, and head gear.\u201d\u00a0 They will be preparing 40 police officers from Argentina\u2019s \u201cSpecial Group for Federal Operations\u201d to take charge of security for a two-day meeting of \u00a0the <u><a href=\"http:\/\/sdg.iisd.org\/events\/2018-g20-leaders-summit\/\">G-20group<\/a><\/u>of wealthy nations set for Buenos Aires beginning on November 30.Argentina and Brazil are the only Latin American members of the G-20 group.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. government will pay most of the <u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.resumenlatinoamericano.org\/2018\/07\/12\/argentina-g20-tropas-de-estados-unidos-llegan-al-pais-para-entrenar-a-policias-y-gendarmes\/\">\u00a0$1.5 million<\/a><\/u>cost of the training project. The U.S. soldiers belong to the \u201cSpecial Operations Command\u201d of the <u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.southcom.mil\/\">U.S. Southern Command<\/a><\/u>. They\u2019ll be in the country until August 3.<\/p>\n<p>Argentina\u2019s<u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rebelion.org\/noticia.php?id=231929\">Law 25.880<\/a><\/u>requires that the government seek congressional approval for the entry of foreign troops. That did not happen with these U.S. soldiers.A government spokesperson emphasized that they will \u201c<u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.resumenlatinoamericano.org\/2018\/07\/12\/argentina-g20-tropas-de-estados-unidos-llegan-al-pais-para-entrenar-a-policias-y-gendarmes\/\">be strengthening relations and ties<\/a><\/u>of friendship between both countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As acolytes of the market economy and expropriators of natural resources, the two nations enjoy an affinity, which is oxygen for a U.S. project underway now in Neuqu\u00e9n.
