The number one reason cited by U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley was that the council is unfairly critically focused on Israel. The United States had already left the U.N.\u2019s cultural organization UNESCO last October, the last straw reportedly being when the organization\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/post-nation\/wp\/2017\/10\/12\/u-s-withdraws-from-unesco-the-u-n-s-cultural-organization-citing-anti-israel-bias\/?utm_term=.4848fcde27cd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/post-nation\/wp\/2017\/10\/12\/u-s-withdraws-from-unesco-the-u-n-s-cultural-organization-citing-anti-israel-bias\/?utm_term=.4848fcde27cd\">named<\/a>\u00a0the city of Hebron on the West Bank a Palestinian World Heritage site, which Israel declared to be unacceptable. At that time, the number one reason cited by Haley for the withdrawal was that the organization was too critical of Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Haley has also made a number of other comments relating to the United Nations and Israel. Immediately upon taking office she complained that \u201cnowhere has the U.N.\u2019s failure been more consistent and more outrageous than in its bias against our close ally Israel\u201d and vowed that the \u201cdays of Israel bashing are over.\u201d In February 2017, she blocked the appointment of former Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to a diplomatic position at the United Nations because he is a Palestinian. In a\u00a0<a title=\"http:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/haley-promises-to-block-any-appointment-of-palestinian-to-senior-un-post\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/haley-promises-to-block-any-appointment-of-palestinian-to-senior-un-post\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/haley-promises-to-block-any-appointment-of-palestinian-to-senior-un-post\/\">congressional hearing<\/a>\u00a0she was asked about the decision: \u201cIs it this administration\u2019s position that support for Israel and support for the appointment of a well-qualified individual of Palestinian nationality to an appointment at the U.N. are mutually exclusive?\u201d Haley responded yes, that the administration is \u201csupporting Israel\u201d by blocking every Palestinian.<\/p>\n<p>There is clearly a disinclination on the part of the Trump Administration to support multinational bodies, evident in the rejection of climate, trade and non-proliferation agreements.
