Report: New US Coalition Airstrikes On Government Positions In Eastern Syria<\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Though as yet unconfirmed in other international sources, Russian and Syrian state media are reporting major US coalition airstrikes in eastern Syria which left<\/strong> multiple civilians and at least one Syrian soldier dead.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Syria’s SANA reports<\/a> eight civilians killed and many injured during US coalition airstrikes on\u00a0al-Sha\u2019afa village in Deir Ezzor countryside on Thursday.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The unconfirmed breaking story cites “civil sources” in the region of the strikes to report that “at least eight citizens were killed, many others were injured and huge destruction affected the houses after warplanes of the US-led international coalition carried out many raids on the citizens\u2019 houses.”<\/p>\n

Early this week the Syrian government accused the US of conducting massive airstrike<\/a>s on government forces near Abu Kamal\u00a0along the Iraq-Syria border<\/strong>, after which the US coalition spokesman issued a formal denial. An unnamed US official later told CNN<\/a>that Israel actually carried out the attack<\/strong>, which reportedly killed scores of Syrian Army and Iraqi paramilitary forces carrying out an anti-ISIS campaign in the area on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Neither Israel nor the US officially acknowledged responsibility for the Sunday airstrikes, and no official recognition of Thursday’s alleged strikes has been forthcoming.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Sputnik reports on what appears <\/a>to be *a separate incident:*<\/p>\n

At least one Syrian soldier was killed in a US-led coalition airstrike on Syrian army positions<\/em><\/strong> in the east of Homs province on Thursday, a Syrian field commander told Sputnik.<\/em><\/p>\n

“The combat planes belonging to\u00a0the coalition led by\u00a0the United States, attacked the army position in\u00a0Jabal Ghurab, some 150 kilometers [93 miles] east of\u00a0Palmyra near\u00a0the border with\u00a0Iraq,”<\/em><\/strong> the commander said.<\/em><\/p>\n

“One serviceman was killed and several others wounded,”<\/em><\/strong> he added.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
