The US\u2019s Fingerprints Are All Over Nicaragua\u2019s Bloody Civil Unrest<\/a><\/h3>\n

Bloody protests against Nicaragua\u2019s President Daniel Ortega\u2019s government have the United State\u2019s fingerprints all over it.\u00a0 Over\u00a0100 people have been killed<\/a>\u00a0since the civil unrest broke out in mid-April\u00a0and it doesn\u2019t take much to realize the US government is fueling the bloodbath.<\/p>\n

According to RT<\/em>,<\/a> the so-called\u00a0marea rosa<\/em>, or \u201cpink tide\u201d, of allied leftist governments<\/a>which held sway across Latin America in previous years is being rolled back. Brazil\u2019s Dilma Rousseff was\u00a0removed from power in a right-wing coup<\/a>, co-conspirators of which have now managed to\u00a0imprison the current presidential frontrunner<\/a>, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Ecuador\u2019s Lenin Moreno has stabbed his former leader Rafael Correa in the back by\u00a0barring him from seeking re-election<\/a>, while seemingly\u00a0purging<\/a>\u00a0his cabinet of remaining Correa loyalists and beginning the process of\u00a0allowing the US military back into the country<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

These are all coalescing as other democratic and not-so-democratic removals of leftist governments from power continue. NATO has nabbed itself a foothold in the Latin American region, now that Colombia has\u00a0joined<\/a>\u00a0the obsolete yet aggressively expanding Cold War alliance, in a thinly veiled threat to neighboring authoritarian Venezuela.<\/a><\/p>\n

Now it\u2019s Nicaragua\u2019s turn for the US to interfere\u00a0in the government\u2019s efforts to \u201cpolice the entire world,\u201d<\/a> paid with by our stolen tax money, of course.\u00a0Student demonstrations began in the capital Managua as a reaction to the country\u2019s failure to handle forest fires in one of the most protected areas of the\u00a0Indio Maiz Biological Reserve.<\/a>\u00a0The situation was then exacerbated when, two days later, the ruling Sandinista National Liberation Front announced it was slashing pensions and social security payments,\u00a0sparking\u00a0<\/a>further anti-government protests.\u00a0Targeted opposition violence<\/a>\u00a0along with\u00a0police repressions\u00a0<\/a>have led to a mounting body count on both sides.<\/p>\n
