Why?<\/p>\n<p>Aside from trade <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birchgold.com\/news\/chinas-nuclear-option-in-trade-war\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wars<\/a>, geopolitical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birchgold.com\/news\/us-dollar-is-dancing-nervously-amid-renewed-syria-tensions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tension<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birchgold.com\/news\/impending-recession-follows-a-similar-script-from-2008\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">debt<\/a>, <strong>inflation<\/strong> might stand center-stage as the final nail in the U.S. economic \u201ccoffin\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to Torsten Slok, the Chief International Economist at Deutsche Bank, inflation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2018\/04\/18\/inflation-is-the-mother-of-all-risks-to-the-market-now-deutsche-bank-says.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cis the mother of all risks here\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You see, the floundering U.S. dollar, tight labor market, Quantitative Easing and trade wars have all paved the way for rising inflation. And, in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/news\/inflation-mother-all-risks-deutsche-bank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent survey<\/a> of global fund managers conducted by Bank of America, <strong>82%<\/strong> expect the CPI index to keep climbing over the next year.<\/p>\n<p>But the \u201cinflation nation\u201d might be overheating, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2018\/04\/18\/inflation-is-the-mother-of-all-risks-to-the-market-now-deutsche-bank-says.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> by CNBC:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Earlier this month, inflation numbers came in hotter than anticipated, signaling inflation pressures could be mounting. The Labor Department reported its CPI rose 2.4 percent year on year, its fastest annual pace in 12 months.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Even if you factor out energy and food \u2014 factors which the U.S. Government likes to leave out to make the CPI inflation rate more appealing \u2014 it\u2019s <strong>still<\/strong> 2.1%.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s the fastest rise since February 2017, higher than the benchmark of 2%, and still rising. Which begs a serious question\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWhat is the real inflation rate?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a set of methods that track the inflation rate, monitored by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS).<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12267 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.birchgold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/inflation-higher-matrix.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.birchgold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/inflation-higher-matrix.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.birchgold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/inflation-higher-matrix-150x150.jpg 150w\" alt=\"us inflation higher matrix\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" data-src=\"http:\/\/www.birchgold.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/inflation-higher-matrix.jpg\" data-unveil=\"true\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was designed to help businesses, individuals and the government adjust for the impact of inflation.
