No decisions were made on the Iran nuclear deal, Syria, or North Korea. As usual, the US decides what\u2019s right or wrong while others countries sing the chorus. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/g7.gc.ca\/en\/g7-presidency\/themes\/building-peaceful-secure-world\/g7-ministerial-meeting\/g7-foreign-ministers-joint-communique\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/g7.gc.ca\/en\/g7-presidency\/themes\/building-peaceful-secure-world\/g7-ministerial-meeting\/g7-foreign-ministers-joint-communique\/\">final communiqu\u00e9<\/a>\u00a0is a very voluminous document filled with turgid words and phrases that have little practical meaning. Actually, the event produced few, if any, results worth talking about. This casts some doubt on the prospects for the top-level event this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Russia was in the crosshairs and the language was tough.<em> \u201cThe\u00a0Russophobic connotations there are obvious,&#8221; <\/em>as Russian FM Sergey Lavrov\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tass.com\/politics\/1001402\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/tass.com\/politics\/1001402\">noted<\/a>. So what? Wasn\u2019t it tough before? Has this \u201ctoughness\u201d changed anything about Moscow\u2019s behavior?<em> \u201cIf you want to be treated as a great power, then work with us,\u201d<\/em> they\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-g7-summit-foreign\/g7-foreign-ministers-summit-opposes-russias-behavior-u-s-official-idUSKBN1HT0FI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-g7-summit-foreign\/g7-foreign-ministers-summit-opposes-russias-behavior-u-s-official-idUSKBN1HT0FI\">say<\/a>. If joining the G7 means sacrificing one\u2019s independence to become one of \u201cus,\u201d then who needs such membership?<\/p>\n<p>The decision to create a working group to address Russia&#8217;s &#8220;detrimental behavior&#8221; had been expected. The G7 members have already raised a hue and cry about it. Another \u201cworking group\u201d to fuel the hysteria does not change much. The ministers agreed to keep the sanctions in force and to introduce new ones if Russia refuses to cave. This decision had been expected. It\u2019s the US that calls the shots with the others obediently following its marching orders.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/irrussianality.wordpress.com\/2018\/04\/23\/foreign-minister\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ukraine was invited<\/a> to attend for the first time. If the aim was to irritate Russia, the shot missed its target.
