The author of the piece that discussed the idea was Lise van Susteren.\u00a0 Lise is a General and Forensic Psychiatrist in Washington D.C , and has been involved in climate change issues for the last 12 years or so.\u00a0 In 2005 she sought political office, seeking the Democratic nomination to the US Senate in Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>She describes \u2018Pre-Traumatic Stress Disorder\u2019 as \u201ca before-the-fact version of classic PTSD\u201d.\u00a0 I was intrigued as to what impact living in a state of \u2018Pre-Traumatic Stress Disorder\u2019 might have on the human imagination, on its ability to flourish, and to imagine the future in positive ways.\u00a0 Are we all, to one degree or another, living in a state of \u2018Pre-Traumatic Stress Disorder\u2019? When we spoke, I started by asking Lise what the term means to her?<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/433808973&amp;color=%23ef16ea&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false&amp;show_teaser=true&amp;visual=true\" width=\"100%\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, here\u2019s the thing.\u00a0 I called it Pre-Traumatic Stress Disorder because it is the off-spring of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, but in fact when I look at it now, and the terminology that I used, \u2018disorder\u2019, gosh, I\u2019m here thinking to myself, \u201cIt\u2019s not Pre-Traumatic Stress Disorder. \u00a0It\u2019s a Pre-Traumatic Stress condition that I wonder why everybody else doesn\u2019t have?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maybe the disorder is <strong>not<\/strong> having a Pre-Traumatic Stress condition. \u00a0Given everything the scientists are telling us, given how late the hour is, and how grave the consequences, the abnormality now is <strong>not<\/strong> having a Pre-Traumatic Stress condition.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;click on the above link to read the rest of the article&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lise van Susteren on Pre-Traumatic Stress Disorder and the imagination A while ago I was reading a report about the psychological impacts of climate change, and came across the term \u2018pre-traumatic stress disorder\u2019.\u00a0 It fascinated me.
