China is One Signature Away From Dealing the Dollar a Death Blow<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

Some intruders are worse than others. All can be annoying. But let in a thief, who robs your home\u2026 and it only takes that one time<\/em> to change your life forever.<\/p>\n

The U.S. has essentially left their \u201csliding glass door\u201d open, and on March 26<\/strong><\/a> China is set to become the intruder that may very well deal a death blow to the dollar.<\/p>\n

China Prepares Death Blow to the Dollar<\/strong><\/p>\n

On March 26 China will finally launch a yuan-dominated oil futures contract<\/a>. Over the last decade there have been a number of \u201cfalse-starts,\u201d but this time the contract<\/a> has gotten approval from China\u2019s State Council.<\/p>\n

With that approval, the \u201cpetroyuan\u201d will become real and China will set out to challenge the \u201cpetrodollar\u201d<\/a> for dominance. Adam Levinson,\u00a0managing partner and chief investment officer at hedge fund manager Graticule Asset Management Asia (GAMA), already warned last year<\/a>\u00a0that China launching a yuan-denominated oil futures contract will shock those investors who have not been paying attention.<\/p>\n

This could be a death blow for an already weakening<\/a> U.S. dollar, and the rise of the yuan<\/a> as the dominant world currency.<\/p>\n

But this isn\u2019t just some slow, news day \u201cfad\u201d that will fizzle in a few days.<\/p>\n

A Warning for Investors Since 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n

Back in 2015, the first of a number of strikes against the petrodollar was dealt by China. Gazprom Neft, the third-largest oil producer in Russia, decided to move away<\/a> from the dollar and towards the yuan and other Asian currencies<\/a>.<\/p>\n
