If confirmed,<strong><em> they would be the first since 2014.<\/em><\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.com\/news\/news\/2018-03-17-yellowstone-national-park-geyser-eruptions\">Weather.com reports<\/a> that park officials said employees reported seeing an eruption at the Steamboat Geyser in northwest Wyoming Thursday evening.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/2018-03-20_13-19-58.jpg?itok=IbmCgJI0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Steamboat is located in a part of the park that\u2019s snowed in much of the year. Roads into the area currently are closed for spring plowing.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/2018-03-20_13-24-47.jpg?itok=vXh7HPJm\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shtfplan.com\/headline-news\/yellowstone-supervolcano-eruption-fears-largest-geyser-begins-to-erupt_03192018\">As SHTFplan.com&#8217;s Mac Slavo notes,<\/a> the geyser can shoot water more than 300 feet during significant eruptions and the park service made the announcement about the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/trib.com\/lifestyles\/recreation\/world-s-tallest-active-geyser-may-be-erupting-deep-in\/article_7b108492-1ebc-519b-a0cc-a2ef60e6f39d.html\">world\u2019s tallest active geyser on Friday,<\/a>as geologists compared the accounts to thermal sensors in the area. <strong>It was determined by scientists that it \u201ccould be a series of minor eruptions,\u201d as opposed to one big eruption.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A series of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shtfplan.com\/headline-news\/yellowstone-alert-200-earthquakes-in-10-days-as-ring-of-fire-awakens_02202018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">earthquakes have been rumbling underground over the past few month<\/a>s, with as many as 200 recorded in a matter of days.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shtfplan.com\/headline-news\/new-data-yellowstone-supervolcano-strained-magma-chamber-under-immense-pressure_02142018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The volcano is \u201cunder strain\u201d according to some experts<\/a>\u00a0but researchers still continue to say not to worry, because the Steamboat Geyser\u2019s eruptions had little connection to a volcano like Yellowstone.<\/strong>\u00a0Using Global Positioning System, borehole tiltmeters, and borehole strainmeters to measure minute changes in deformation at Yellowstone, David Mencin and Glen Mattioli said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>\u201cthe strain signal is larger than would be expected if the crust under Yellowstone were completely solid\u201d.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Historically, the geyser has gone anywhere from four days to 50 years in between eruptions. <\/strong>Unlike its counterpart\u00a0Old Faithful (named for its predictability) and a favorite attraction, the Steamboat Geyser is far from easy to predict.\u00a0 It can go 4 days or 50 years between eruption, the last time being in 2014.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/2018-03-20_13-25-29.jpg?itok=zcJycq-t\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yellowstone National Park contains more than 10,000 thermal features and sits on top of the world\u2019s largest volcano, capable of sending<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shtfplan.com\/headline-news\/what-would-happen-to-the-world-if-the-yellowstone-super-volcano-erupted-right-now_11142017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a02,000 times more matter into the sky than the Mount St. Helens eruption<\/a>.
