{"id":32405,"date":"2018-03-15T17:21:51","date_gmt":"2018-03-15T22:21:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=32405"},"modified":"2018-03-16T06:47:48","modified_gmt":"2018-03-16T11:47:48","slug":"was-russian-spy-poisoned-to-avert-brexit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=32405","title":{"rendered":"Was Russian Spy Poisoned To Avert Brexit?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"block-zerohedge-page-title\" class=\"block block-core block-page-title-block\">\n<h3 class=\"page-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2018-03-15\/was-russian-spy-poisoned-avert-brexit\"><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Was Russian Spy Poisoned To Avert Brexit?<\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"block-zerohedge-content\" class=\"block block-system block-system-main-block\">\n<article class=\"node node--type-article node--view-mode-full\" role=\"article\">\n<footer class=\"node__meta\"><\/footer>\n<div class=\"node__content\">\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>In July 2003, Dr. David Kelly, a British weapons inspector who <strong>disclosed to the media that Tony Blair\u2019s government\u2019s dossier on Iraq\u2019s weapons of mass destruction was \u201csexed up,\u201d <\/strong>was found dead in a public park a mile away from his home.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/2018-03-15_10-32-35.jpg?itok=VtsFUsXW\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The<strong> inquiry into his death concluded Kelly had committed suicide by slitting his left wrist<\/strong> but the mystery surrounding his death has remained unresolved to date, though<strong> the obvious beneficiary of his propitious \u201csuicide\u201d was the British intelligence itself.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/download%20%287%29.jpg?itok=NugLLcit\" \/><\/p>\n<p>More recently, <strong>Sergei Skripal, a Russian double agent working for the British foreign intelligence service, and his daughter Yulia were found unconscious<\/strong> on a public bench outside a shopping center in Salisbury on March 4.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/download%20%288%29.jpg?itok=354eIoPa\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Eight days later, another Russian exile Nikolai Glushkov was found dead in his London home<\/strong> and the cause of his death has not been ascertained yet.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of Skripal, Theresa <strong>May promptly accused Kremlin of attempted assassination.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u><strong>There are a couple of caveats, however.<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Firstly, though Skripal was a double agent working for MI6, he was released in a spy swap deal in 2010. <\/strong>Had he been a person of importance, Kremlin would not have released him and let him settle in the UK in the first place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Secondly, British government has concluded that Skripal and his daughter were poisoned with a Moscow-made, military-grade nerve agent, novichok.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A question naturally arises &#8211; <u><em><strong>why would Kremlin leave a smoking gun evidence behind that would lead prosecutors straight to Moscow when their assassins could have used a gun or a knife to accomplish the task?<\/strong><\/em><\/u><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/2018-03-15_11-12-18.jpg?itok=SRXUHMHh\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Leaving mainstream media\u2019s conspiracy theories aside, <u>these assassination attempts should be viewed in the wider backdrop of the Brexit debate.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Both NATO and European Union were conceived during the Cold War to offset the influence of former Soviet Union in Europe.
