Last week,<\/a>\u00a0I touched on the issue of oil prices and demand stating:<\/p>\n

“First, the development of the\u00a0\u201cshale oil<\/i>\u201d production over the last five years has caused oil inventories to surge at a time when demand for petroleum products is on the decline as shown below.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“The obvious ramification of this is a\u00a0\u201csupply glut\u201d<\/i>\u00a0which leads to a collapse in oil prices. The collapse in prices leads to production\u00a0\u201cshut ins,\u201d<\/i>\u00a0loss of revenue, employee reductions, and many other negative economic consequences for a city dependent on the production of oil.<\/p>\n

Secondly, I have also discussed that the\u00a0\u201cfracking miracle\u201d\u00a0<\/i>may not be all that it is believed to be due to fast production decline rates and\u00a0massive amounts of leverage<\/a>. Just recently Yves Smith posted an article discussing this very issue stating:”<\/p>\n
