Murdered Slovak Journalist Was Investigating Prime Minister\u2019s Aide Linked to Suspected Italian Mafia Figure<\/a><\/h3>\n

BEFORE HE WAS<\/u> murdered last week with a single shot to the chest, and his body left alongside that of his fianc\u00e9e, who was killed with one shot to the head, the Slovak investigative journalist J\u00e1n Kuciak had been amassing evidence that an Italian businessman living in Slovakia was part of the \u2018Ndrangheta, a Calabrian organized crime network.<\/p>\n

Kuciak\u2019s final, unfinished report<\/a> for the news site Aktuality.sk, on money-laundering, tax fraud, and drug smuggling by the \u2018Ndrangheta in Slovakia, was published on Wednesday by several Slovak websites.<\/p>\n

The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, or OCCRP, which had supported Kuciak\u2019s work, also published an overview of the investigation<\/a>.<\/p>\n
