{"id":31005,"date":"2018-02-14T08:18:23","date_gmt":"2018-02-14T13:18:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=31005"},"modified":"2018-02-14T08:18:23","modified_gmt":"2018-02-14T13:18:23","slug":"scientists-warn-prepare-now-for-a-mini-ice-age-as-the-sun-cools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=31005","title":{"rendered":"Scientists Warn: PREPARE NOW For A Mini ICE AGE As The Sun Cools"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shtfplan.com\/headline-news\/scientists-warn-prepare-now-for-a-mini-ice-age-as-the-sun-cools_02132018\">Scientists Warn: PREPARE NOW For A Mini ICE AGE As The Sun Cools<\/a><\/h3>\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49921\" src=\"http:\/\/shtfplan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/coronal-mass-ejection-e1508330882865.jpg\" alt=\"Magnificent CME Erupts on the Sun - August 31\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Scientists are all seemingly on the same page for once and declaring that the sun\u2019s decreased output could fling Earth into a mini ice age.\u00a0 The scientists determined, based on 20 years of observations and collected data, that the sun will be nearly seven percent cooler and dimmer by 2050 causing a mini ice age.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moneycontrol.com\/news\/environment\/scientists-say-sun-may-become-7-cooler-by-2050-warn-of-mini-ice-age-2505881.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Money Control,<\/em><\/a> a research team based at the University of California\u00a0in San Diego believe that they have figured out\u00a0a way to track<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shtfplan.com\/headline-news\/the-sun-is-going-dark-no-sunspots-for-96-days-ice-age-approaches_12192017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> the sun\u2019s 11-year-cycle.<\/a>\u00a0Our sun goes through an 11-year-cycle where it experiences active and rather quiet periods, known as the solar maximum and<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shtfplan.com\/forecasting\/scientists-fear-grid-failures-during-solar-minimum_07092017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> solar minimum<\/a>. Now, the researchers believe they have worked out when the next solar minimum could occur.<\/p>\n<p>During a solar minimum, the sun\u2019s magnetism decreases, fewer sunspots form, and less ultraviolet radiation\u00a0actually makes it to the surface of planet\u00a0Earth. These conditions mean the sun\u2019s surface appears clearer and becomes dimmer.<\/p>\n<p>According to the study, conditions in the next\u00a0cold period labeled as a \u201cgrand minimum\u201d, could be similar to those experienced in Europe in the middle of the 17th century. Back then,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shtfplan.com\/forecasting\/scientists-fear-grid-failures-during-solar-minimum_07092017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> the River Thames froze <\/a>as a result of the extremely low temperatures. Low temperatures also caused the Baltic Sea to freeze in 1968.
