Clark summarized what he says Wolfowitz said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>\u201c\u2018But one thing we did learn. We learned that we can use our military in the region, in the Middle East, and\u00a0<\/i><b><i>the Soviets won\u2019t stop us.<\/i><\/b><i>\u00a0We\u2019ve got about<\/i><b><i>\u00a0five or ten years to clean up those old Soviet client regimes, Syria, Iran, Iraq,<\/i><\/b><i>\u00a0before the next great superpower comes on to challenge us.\u2019\u201d<\/i>\u00a0[emphasis added]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">\n<div align=\"center\">\n<div id=\"jcj3bkfgc6rhn2\" class=\"ad-tag\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-ad-name=\"Responsive_Leader\" data-ad-size=\"auto\" data-ad-processed=\"1\">\u00a0This was certainly the case in the years that followed, as the United States used the pretext of 9\/11 to attack both Afghanistan and Iraq with little to no substantive resistance from the international community. This trend continued as the Obama administration heavily\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebureauinvestigates.com\/stories\/2017-01-17\/obamas-covert-drone-war-in-numbers-ten-times-more-strikes-than-bush\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expanded its operations<\/a>\u00a0into Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan, and even the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brookings.edu\/opinions\/deadly-drone-strike-on-muslims-in-the-southern-philippines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philippines,<\/a>\u00a0to name a few, right up until the U.S. led a cohort of NATO countries to impose regime change in Libya in 2011.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>At the time, Russia<a href=\"https:\/\/foreignpolicy.com\/2016\/09\/07\/the-kremlin-really-believes-that-hillary-clinton-will-start-a-war-with-russia-donald-trump-vladimir-putin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0withheld its veto power<\/a>\u00a0at the U.N. Security Council because it had received assurances that the coalition would not pursue regime change.\u00a0After NATO forces began bombing Muammar Gaddafi\u2019s palaces directly, a furious Vladimir Putin<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Iw5Ij_RFJ1Q\">\u00a0questioned<\/a>: \u201c<i>Who gave NATO the right to kill Gaddafi?<\/i>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following Gaddafi\u2019s public execution on the streets of Sirte, Putin\u2019s criticism of NATO\u2019s betrayal went even further. He<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Al_m15uyMMc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0stated<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>\u201cThe whole world saw him being killed; all bloodied. Is that democracy? And who did it?
