Demonstrations turned violent in Milan and Turin as protesters clashed with police.<\/p>\n<p style=\"vertical-align: baseline; font-size: 1.5em; line-height: 1.4em; padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 15px 0px;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: baseline; background-color: initial; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\">A general strike called by CGIL and UIL, two of Italy\u2019s major trade unions, prompted huge rallies in over 50 cities nationwide. The unions have denounced government reforms, claiming they pose a threat to job security.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"vertical-align: baseline; font-size: 1.5em; line-height: 1.4em; padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 15px 0px;\">Strikers believe the burden of reform is being placed unfairly on workers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"vertical-align: baseline; font-size: 1.5em; line-height: 1.4em; padding: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 15px 0px;\"><em style=\"vertical-align: baseline; font-style: italic; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\">&#8220;We want jobs and you can&#8217;t create jobs by cutting the rights of the workers.
