North Korea Declares New Sanctions An \u2018Act Of War,\u2019 Refuses To Ever Abandon Its Nukes<\/a><\/h3>\n

North Korea strongly rejected the latest United Nations sanctions resolution, calling it an \u201cact of war\u201d against the rogue regime.<\/span><\/p>\n

The U.N. Security Council unanimously decided<\/a> Friday to impose tougher sanctions on North Korea in response to the North\u2019s test of a new intercontinental ballistic missile that some experts suggest can range the entire continental U.S.<\/p>\n

Resolution 2397\u00a0bans<\/a> nearly 90 percent of North Korea\u2019s refined petroleum imports and sets new restrictions on other essential imports, such as heavy machinery.\u00a0The punitive resolution also demands the repatriation of North Korean workers generating funds for the regime abroad and puts greater pressure on North Korean shipping.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe United States, completely terrified at our accomplishment of the great historic cause of completing the state nuclear force, is getting more and more frenzied in the moves to impose the harshest-ever sanctions and pressure on our country,\u201d North Korea\u2019s state-run Korean Central News Agency said<\/a>Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe define this \u2018sanctions resolution\u2019 rigged up by the U.S. and its followers as a grave infringement upon the sovereignty of our Republic, as an act of war violating peace and stability in the\u00a0Korean peninsula and the region and categorically reject the \u2018resolution,’\u201d the report explained.<\/p>\n

Pyongyang called on the U.S. and its international partners to \u201cwake up from its pipe dream of our country giving up nuclear weapons\u201d and learn to \u201cco-exist with the country that has nuclear weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will further consolidate our self-defensive nuclear deterrence aimed at fundamentally eradicating the U.S. nuclear threats, blackmail and hostile moves by establishing the practical balance of force with the U.S.,\u201d the state-run outlet further stated.<\/p>\n
