{"id":28866,"date":"2017-12-14T20:35:18","date_gmt":"2017-12-15T01:35:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=28866"},"modified":"2017-12-14T20:35:18","modified_gmt":"2017-12-15T01:35:18","slug":"global-deflation-alert-chinese-credit-creation-tumbles-to-27-month-low","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=28866","title":{"rendered":"Global Deflation Alert: Chinese Credit Creation Tumbles To 27 Month Low"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"title\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-12-14\/global-deflation-alert-chinese-credit-creation-tumbles-27-month-low-why-matters\">Global Deflation Alert: Chinese Credit Creation Tumbles To 27 Month Low<\/a><\/h3>\n<section class=\"messages-holder\"><\/section>\n<section class=\"node node-type-story node-full node-nid-609191\">\n<div class=\"sub-title-box\">\n<div class=\"a2a_kit a2a_kit_size_32 a2a_default_style\" data-a2a-icon-color=\"#222\">\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<p>At the end of November, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-11-28\/china-hits-brick-wall-first-time-ever-record-chinese-credit-creation-fails-stimulate\">we showed a troubling observation for China &#8211; <\/a>and global &#8211; macro watchers from Axiom&#8217;s Gordon Johnson: for the first time ever, record Chinese credit creation had failed to stimulate the economy, and in fact the exact opposite appeared to be unfolding \u2013 economic growth is slowing across a number of data points despite massive new credit injected into the economy over the past year.<\/p>\n<p><em><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user5\/imageroot\/2017\/11\/07\/gj1_1.jpg\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In economic terms, this meant that China&#8217;s credit impulse had hit rock bottom, and was perhaps at its lowest level ever, something <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-06-12\/ubs-has-some-very-bad-news-global-economy\">UBS hinted at over the summer <\/a>when it showed that no matter how much credit China creates, it can no longer keep the first derivative, i.e. impulse, surging at is had in the past despite record amounts of nominal debt created. Quite the contrary.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user5\/imageroot\/2017\/06\/04\/credit%20impulse%20update%206.12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user5\/imageroot\/2017\/06\/04\/credit%20impulse%20update%206.12_0.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"297\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And while one can debate the definition of credit impulse, and its impact on the global economy, one thing is clear: China&#8217;s credit creation &#8211; the growth dynamo of the entire world &#8211; is rapidly slowing. We got the latest confirmation of this earlier this week, before <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-12-13\/china-unexpectedly-hikes-rates-despite-disappointing-retail-sales-growth\">last night&#8217;s battery of economic data <\/a>which painted a very mixed picture of the Chinese economy, with retail sales missing, while IP and CapEx barely met expectations&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/12\/13\/20171213_china.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/12\/13\/20171213_china_0.jpg\" width=\"498\" height=\"365\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; when the PBOC reported November new loans of Rmb1.12Trillion and Total Social Financial of Rmb1.6Trillion.
