On November 18th, Google\u2019s CEO Eric Schmidt spoke about how Google will help to defeat Russia. He said that Google helps in this effort not by \u201ccensoring\u201d Russian newsmedia, but by \u201cde-ranking\u201d them in Google web-searches, so that web-pages from these sites, which he calls \u201cpropaganda,\u201d will show so far down in the rankings in any Google-search, so that users of Google will not encounter (or will be vastly less likely to encounter) Russian sites \u2014 or any other non-mainstream sites (such as this one), which refuse unquestioningly to trumpet government lies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Schmidt was speaking to the NATO-sponsored<\/span><\/a> Halifax International Security Forum, which is headquartered actually in Washington DC<\/span><\/a>, though \u201cThe Forum is best known for its annual security summit in Halifax, Nova Scotia\u201d in order to strengthen Canada\u2019s bond to America\u2019s anti-Russia military alliance, NATO. <\/span><\/p>\n
