class=\"clearboth\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mk-text-block responsive-align-left  \">\n<p>Over the past seven months, Pennsylvania\u2019s Attorney General has received an influx of phone calls from residents alleging that officials at the state\u2019s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) have ignored or covered up drinking water contamination, illness, animal deaths, and other impacts they relate to oil and gas operations.<\/p>\n<p>According to agents within the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), the calls began pouring in after a Public Herald <a href=\"http:\/\/publicherald.org\/to-hell-with-us-records-of-misconduct-found-inside-pa-drinking-water-investigations\/\">report<\/a> in February revealed <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1qOzPZxt9NFb3t8wDa9ULEqIwpZuekpdjxfSfcvwdBTg\/edit#gid=0\">over 100 cases<\/a> of official misconduct were committed by DEP oil and gas staff during investigations of citizen water complaints since 2004.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"page-section-7  expandable-false fullwidth-false \u201cgetting between three to six calls a day\u201d from residents with DEP fracking-related grievances.<\/p>\n<p>Since June, Public Herald has received reports from residents who have been visited by Shapiro\u2019s agents, but Attorney General Shapiro\u2019s office has yet to announce an official investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the residents who contacted Shapiro\u2019s office have told Public Herald they are hopeful \u2013 after all, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joshshapiro.org\/2016\/04\/josh-shapiro-as-attorney-general-ill-hold-the-frackers-accountable\/\">Shapiro campaigned<\/a> on the promise to defend Pennsylvanians against pollution from oil and gas operations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">\n<div class=\"page-section-8  expandable-false fullwidth-false section-expandable-false responsive-align-left  \">\n<p>Others are skeptical.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t hold out any hope for justice for what\u2019s going on,\u201d said Jennifer Lisak, who was visited at her home in Jefferson County by one of Shapiro\u2019s agents in June. \u201cToo many people have been harmed for too many years, and nothing has been done.
