{"id":27591,"date":"2017-11-03T11:06:53","date_gmt":"2017-11-03T16:06:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=27591"},"modified":"2017-11-03T11:06:53","modified_gmt":"2017-11-03T16:06:53","slug":"the-end-is-near-depopulation-is-out-of-control-so-buy-stocks-seriously","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=27591","title":{"rendered":"The End is Near&#8230;Depopulation is Out of Control&#8230;So Buy Stocks (Seriously)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"post-title entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/econimica.blogspot.com\/2017\/11\/the-end-is-neardepopulation-is-out-of.html\">The End is Near&#8230;Depopulation is Out of Control&#8230;So Buy Stocks (Seriously)<\/a><\/h3>\n<div id=\"post-body-5131869675049545559\" class=\"post-body entry-content\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div>\n<div>The world economy is premised on a ludicrous idea.\u00a0\u00a0That Asia, then India, and then Africa will continue to drive\u00a0economic growth.\u00a0 So as not to turn this article into a\u00a0book,\u00a0lets consider this idea focusing on East Asia\u00a0consisting of China, Japan,\u00a0North\u00a0and South\u00a0Korea, Taiwan, and minor others.\u00a0 This region\u00a0consists of\u00a01.6 billion persons or about 22% of earths inhabitants.\u00a0 However, since 2008, it is this region that is responsible for nearly\u00a0100% of the global increase in\u00a0demand for oil (best proxy available for\u00a0true economic growth)\u00a0and having primarily driven global economic growth.\u00a0 My point in this article is that the growth in this region is entirely a credit driven supernova against collapsing populations which will never be able to fill the 100+ million newly added apartments\u00a0or pay back the debt incurred to achieve the &#8220;growth&#8221;.\u00a0 Contrarily, from an investor standpoint, this weakness is\u00a0the green light to &#8220;invest&#8221; as aggressively as possible because as long as central banks exist, they\u00a0have your back.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>Consider, since 2000, China&#8217;s\u00a0debt outstanding\u00a0has risen something like 14x&#8217;s to 17x&#8217;s\u00a0or from about $2 trillion to something between $30 to $35 trillion presently.\u00a0 As for Japan, who knows Japan&#8217;s\u00a0true debt\u00a0as Japan&#8217;s central bank is buying\u00a0much or\u00a0most\u00a0of the debt and essentially throwing it in a black hole, never to be seen again(&#8230;monetization with a capital &#8220;M&#8221;).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>Why the massive debt creation and central bank monetization?\u00a0 Depopulation with a capital &#8220;D&#8221;.\u00a0 First off, consider the collapse in fertility rates for these nations (chart below).\u00a0 To maintain a constant, zero growth population, the childbearing population needs to produce 2.1 children in order to replace themselves (dashed line, below).\u00a0 However, as the chart below shows, E. Asian nations have seen negative fertility rates\u00a0for decades\u00a0(Japan turning negative in &#8217;74, S. Korea in &#8217;83, China in &#8217;92, and N.
