{"id":2676,"date":"2014-12-09T07:50:39","date_gmt":"2014-12-09T12:50:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=2676"},"modified":"2014-12-09T07:50:39","modified_gmt":"2014-12-09T12:50:39","slug":"anyone-that-believes-that-collapsing-oil-prices-are-good-for-the-economy-is-crazy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olduvai.ca\/?p=2676","title":{"rendered":"Anyone That Believes That Collapsing Oil Prices Are Good For The Economy Is Crazy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theeconomiccollapseblog.com\/archives\/anyone-believes-collapsing-oil-prices-good-economy-crazy\">Anyone That Believes That Collapsing Oil Prices Are Good For The Economy Is Crazy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"display: block; padding: 0px; margin: 1em 0px 1em 0px;\">Are much lower oil prices good news for the U.S. economy?\u00a0 Only if you like collapsing capital expenditures, rising unemployment and a potential financial implosion on Wall Street.\u00a0 Yes, lower gasoline prices are good news for the middle class.\u00a0 I certainly would rather pay two dollars for a gallon of gas than four dollars.\u00a0 But in order to have money to fill up your vehicle you have got to have an income first.\u00a0 And since the last recession, the energy sector has been the number one creator of good jobs in the U.S. economy by far.\u00a0 Barack Obama loves to stand up and take credit for the fact that the employment picture in this country has been improving slightly, but without the energy industry boom, unemployment would be through the roof.\u00a0 And now that the \u201cenergy boom\u201d is rapidly becoming an \u201cenergy bust\u201d, what will happen to the struggling U.S. economy as we head into 2015?<\/p>\n<p style=\"display: block; padding: 0px; margin: 1em 0px 1em 0px;\">At the start of this article I mentioned that much lower oil prices would result in \u201ccollapsing capital expenditures\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"display: block; padding: 0px; margin: 1em 0px 1em 0px;\">If you do not know what a \u201ccapital expenditure\u201d is, the following is a definition that comes from\u00a0<a style=\"color: #4f809e; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none;\" title=\"Investopedia\" href=\"http:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/c\/capitalexpenditure.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Investopedia<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"height: 120px; display: block; clear: both; color: #555555; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: #f4f4f4; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 1em; border: 1px solid #e1e1e1;\">\n<p style=\"display: block; padding: 0px; margin: 1em 0px 1em 0px;\">\u201cFunds used by a company to acquire or upgrade physical assets such as property, industrial buildings or equipment. This type of outlay is made by companies to maintain or increase the scope of their operations.
